Invent something...... check!!!

Another week down, another task completed! It's getting harder and harder to keep this blog updated... I'm beginning to think that some of the tasks on my list may have been a little ambitious! But let's not focus on the negatives...

Some time ago, while conducting a little experiment out of boredom, I became an inventor. Others may claim to have come across this extraordinary invention but quite frankly they are liars. I am the inventor, and I would like to see anyone try to prove otherwise! This wondrous invention is called... "The Fly Kite'' ™.

A fly kite is a relatively easy creation and can be achieved with some easy to find household items. Below are some easy to follow instructions on how to create your very own fly kite.

  1. Find yourself a fly
  2. When he lands, trap him with some sort of container. (This is easier said than done, so I would recommend a large plastic lunch box; the bigger the container, the less chance the fly has of escaping before he is trapped.)
  3. If you're container doesn't have a lid, carefully slide a sheet of paper under the container making sure the fly is still trapped inside.
  4. Now this step has raised some hygiene concerns, but bear with me... place the container into a freezer (preferably one that doesn't contain your dinner, but remember freezing kills bacteria, and besides, your fly should be sealed in with little chance of escape at this stage.)
  5. Leave the container in the freezer for a few minutes (any longer and you will kill your fly).
  6. Remove the container and make sure the fly isn't moving anymore. Hopefully by this stage your fly is frozen, and you haven't murdered it. If he is still moving, repeat the previous step.
  7. Next you need to find yourself some string. The thinner the string the better; thread is perfect.
  8. Carefully tie the string around the fly. (This can easily be done without actually having to touch the fly; just take care not to tie up his wings.)
  9. When your fly is securely tied to the string (but not too securely; again, we don't want to kill him) leave him to thaw.
  10. Be sure to attach the other end of the string to something while you wait so as the fly doesn't escape, although it should only take a few minutes for him to revive and be back flying again.

So there you have it. 10 simple steps on how to create your very own fly kite at home. Fly kites have many uses, they can be used to send notes to loved ones, or simply a companion for those evening walks in the park.
